Bosibori Sarah

This is the brief life story of Sarah. An adult living with autism in Kenya, An advocate for Autism Spectrum. Social media handle; Uniqueness with Autism. Sarah was diagnosed with Autism spectrum after identifying various challenges in early grade school, among many individuals living with Autism spectrum, she is not excluded from the challenges resulting from her diagnosis. She had difficult in concentration skills, and says she was hyperactive, and found it difficult to read, to comprehend and to write, her communication skills we not well of, leading to isolation from her peers in primary school. It took a while for her to get a school that understood her needs, were patience and amazing therapies, she describes this experience as “best thing that happened”. She says she has experienced ups and downs, difficulties in dealing with heavy tasks, which might lead to misunderstanding and frustration, but with time and patience, she can manage them, “It started off as sad, but it’s not always a stormy day outside" she says. As an artist, Sarah draws, she’s the current Light of Autism Kenya, and her hobby is to sing and visit children with Autism

Thomas Cruise Mapother IV

Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse New York, the son of a special education teacher. His family was relatively poor and he had to move between communities and schools several times. By grade 2 was struggling with his dyslexia in school: “When I was about 7 years old, I had been labeled dyslexic. I'd try to concentrate on what I was reading, then I'd get to the end of the page and have very little memory of anything I'd read. I would go blank, feel anxious, nervous, bored, frustrated, dumb. I would get angry. My legs would actually hurt when I was studying. My head ached. All through school and well into my career, I felt like I had a secret. When I'd go to a new school, I wouldn't want the other kids to know about my learning disability, but then I'd be sent off to remedial reading.” As a kid he used to do ad-lib skits and imitations for his family, enjoying making them laugh, eventually going on to star in his high school production of Guys and Dolls. His mother saw potential in him and encouraged him to never give up. But despite the support of his family, by the time he left high school Cruise felt that he was a 'functional illiterate'. But he followed his mother's advice, later turning to teaching techniques promoted by his Scientology religion and eventually became a successful reader. A small part in the movie Endless Love, lead to bigger roles in Taps and Risky Business ultimately leading to the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, which propelled Cruise into the star he is today. https://www.dyslexia-reading-well.com/tom-cruise.html

John Anton

I am the Legislative Specialist at the State House in Boston. I also work with the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress and I do very well with legislation to help them sponsor all of their bills. I focus on all areas of bills. Politics is the field I like to be in. I am hoping that someday I can run for office. I would love to work in Washington, D.C. full time, earning a good income and getting married someday. I like to prove to people that I can get the job done! I have been a Legislative Specialist for about 5 years now. My favorite part of my job is the social relationships I create with people in the State House and in D.C. and I hope to carry on with help from MDSC and my mom. I am a man of many dreams and I am going to stick to what I like to do. I like working in my own office and getting paid. When people come to the office, I ask how I can help them. I also tell them whether my colleagues are in or out. I can take the issues for them. My job makes me feel satisfied. I love this job! I want to be recognized for all of the skills, talents and everything else that I have to offer. When I was younger I had all kinds of dreams about what kind of job I wanted. I hope that someday I am persistent in getting what I need for myself. I feel like my dreams come true. For a job: you need to get along with each other when you work in an office, always do your best, be on top of everything and carry on.
